The problem

Every other macro app has the same 4 problems.

We fixed every one of them.

Barcode scanner paywall

Used to be free. Now I have to pay $10/month to scan a can of soup.

We fixed this: Scanning is free. 2 million foods. Forever.
Ads that ruin tracking

Half the app is ads. Logging a meal takes 3x longer than it should.

We fixed this: Zero ads. Zero pop-ups. Zero interstitials.
Data sold to third parties

Turns out my food log was being sold. I'm out.

We fixed this: Everything stays on your device. No cloud sync unless you opt in.
Bloated, slow, crashy

Takes 8 seconds to open. Crashes mid-log. I just want to track macros.

We fixed this: Opens in under 1 second. Offline-first. Native feel.

I cancelled MyFitnessPal the day I installed this. The scanner is free and faster than MFP ever was.

Questions, answered.

Is MacroClear really free forever?

Yes. Barcode scanning, the 2M food database, custom macros, offline mode — all free. If we ever add a paid tier, everything currently free stays free. That's the promise, and it's in writing on the install page.

What's the catch?

No catch. No ads, no data selling, no paywall on core features. We're funded by a small one-time Founder's tier for users who want custom meal plans and 1:1 coaching — but 99% of people never need it.

Does my food data leave my phone?

Only if you explicitly export it. No cloud sync by default. No analytics on your food log. Nothing gets sent to a server — it all lives in local storage on your device.

How is the barcode scanner free?

We use an open food database that's been built by users over 10 years. We pay a small monthly hosting fee. That's it. MFP charges $19.99/mo for the same thing because they can, not because they need to.

Can I use it offline?

Yes. The app is offline-first. Install it once, scan and log all day without a connection. Your data syncs back up next time you open Wi-Fi if you opted in to backup.

How big is the food database?

Over 2 million foods including all major US grocery chains, most restaurants, and user-submitted items. If something's missing, add it in 10 seconds and it's shared with the next user.

Does it work on iPhone AND Android?

Yes. It's a PWA (progressive web app) that installs from your browser on both platforms. Also available on the Microsoft Store for Windows and via the Google Play Store (TWA wrapper).

What happens if I refer 2 friends?

All three of you get a 20% off code. It applies to the one-time Founder's tier if you ever want it. No pressure — the free tier is enough for 99% of people.
